O.C.U. reported that 9 brands of olive oil sell lower quality as virgin ‘extra’

The  Consumers and Users Organization (OCU) has reported that nine brands of olive oil are mislead consumers, selling an oil labeled “extra” when is only “virgin” and that, therefore, sell at a higher price than corresponds, almost one euro more.

So, after analyzing 40 brands of oil (34 extra virgin olive oil and 6 virgin olive oil) has determined that nine of them: Eroski, Hojiblanca, Coosur, Ybarra, Consum, Arteoliva, Condis, Olisone, Allied Maeva , and Olián, defraud consumers.

For the latest brands, Maeva and Olián, not even fit for consumption for to be “lampante” olive oil, ie, it lacks the refining process “indispensable to consume”, as explained in OCU’s spokesman, Ileana  Izverniceanu.
